There may be numbness due to the fact that the bra presses on the arm nerves, difficulty in breathing, skin rash and wounds in the inframammary line as a result of the constant friction of the breast skin and the skin of the chest with each other. Daily physical activity can be limited. In addition, a large breast brings on difficulties in choosing clothes, while impacting self-esteem – leading to social and psychological problems.
Breast reduction operation gives the breasts a natural appearance, the problems listed above are eliminated, and the person’s life becomes easier.
Breasts can be large for various reasons. Following genetic factors, hormonal changes, or certain diseases, a large breast may form that does not adapt to body size. With weight changes, breastfeeding and the influence of gravity, the existing problem can be exacerbated. An excessing in breast tissue and, accordingly, a large breast can also be observed in young women.
Breasts can become saggy for various reasons. The most important reason is gravity. Depending on weight changes or breastfeeding, the ligaments that hold the breast tissue in place may loosen over time. The problem may be breast tissue, skin, or both. As a result, a saggy breast that looks almost hollow may appear.
In breast reduction and lift surgery, breast tissue that is large and/or saggy is reshaped according to a person's body size. Excess breast tissue and the skin on it are removed. The nipple is moved to where it should be. No matter what method is used, there will definitely be scars around the nipple. In addition, according to the applied method, another inverted T-shaped scar remains from the middle of the lower edge of the nipple downwards. The lower part of the T-shaped permission is matched to the under-breast fold. If breast lift surgery is performed by making an incision around the nipple, the scar around the nipple may be more obvious. In other breast lift surgeries, in addition to the scar around the nipple, there may be a 4-5 cm long scar extending down from the middle of the lower edge of the nipple. Sagging can be eliminated by just placing a breast prosthesis for suitable patients. In this case, the surgical scar is hidden only at the junction of the brownish skin of the nipple and the white skin of the breast and becomes minimal. But these scars are initially noticeable, but fade away over time. The degree of postoperative scars depends on the size of the breast, the method of surgery used and, finally, the scarring characteristic of the patient's skin.
A newly formed breast holds its shape for a long time, but weight changes, pregnancy, breastfeeding, and gravity can cause an increase in breast volume and sagging.
